Canary Builds is the operating company. Legally registered in Australia as Retasoh Pty Ltd, trading as Canary Builds. We're a small studio that designs and ships product-shaped software, with a bias for things that work quietly and prove what they did.
Steelmoth is our first product under that umbrella. There will be others, but only ever a few at a time. We'd rather ship one thing we can stand behind than five we can't.
The wager.
The next generation of business AI will not be won by agents that merely answer more questions. It will be won by agents that can remember, act, and prove what happened.
Most attempts at "AI agents" fall into one of two pits. The first pit is capability-only: a chat box wrapped around a model, eager to act, with no real authority underneath. The second pit is governance-only: a compliance dashboard with nothing that does work. We're trying to build the thing that lives in between — an operator that does the real work, and proves every move.
Steelmoth is intentionally narrower than a desktop super-agent. The first surface is the three places business work already lives: email, the browser, and memory.
How we work.
- Authority over cleverness. The clever part of a system is never the part that grants permission.
- Plain language over jargon. If we can't explain it to the owner, we haven't finished designing it.
- Evidence over claims. Anything Steelmoth says it did is checked against what really happened.
- Narrow before wide. One product surface done well beats five done shallowly.
- Quiet over loud. No exclamation marks. No hype. Owner-to-owner.
